ALERT: Coastal Flood Watch In Effect

Coastal Flood Watch will be in effect Thursday night from 6:00 PM to midnight for our region. According to NOAA, there is the potential for moderate coastal flooding in vulnerable locations.

The weather outlook for the next several days shows unsettled conditions with the risk of flooding highest Thursday evening. Residents should prepare for heavy tides and potential street flooding in low-lying areas.

Due to the potential for flooding, the Village of Island Park is allowing residents who are concerned about their vehicles to park in the Village Municipal Lots overnight. Permit parking regulations in these lots will be suspended overnight Wednesday and Thursday. Masone Beach will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Residents are reminded to take precautions and never drive through flooded streets. Mayor McGinty, Deputy Mayor Graci and the Village Board are monitoring the weather situation. The Island Park Fire Department and Department of Public Works are ready and will be deployed as needed.
