Scam Alert

Mayor Michael McGinty and the Board of Trustees want to warn and educate the public about trending elder fraud threats. It has come to our attention that fraudulent calls claiming to represent the IRS or the Social Security Administration are targeting seniors. PLEASE HANG UP immediately and do not provide any personal information. The IRS or Social Security offices will not call you. These perpetrators often use “robo call” techniques to reach victims, stating; press 1 to speak to a government official. Again, please hang up.

If you think you are the victim of an imposters scam, the United States Justice Department has a comment line and can be reached at 202-353-1555 where you can report suspicious activity.

Thank you, and stay safe.
