January 21st, 2024 – No train service between Valley Stream and Long Beach due to track work

On Sunday January 21st, from 7am to 6pm, the Long Island Railroad has informed me that there will be no train service between Valley Stream and Long Beach. They will be performing work on the Wreck Lead Bridge due to last week’s high-water condition. The majority of this work will be taking place by the Island Park Station and on the Wreck Lead Bridge to replace damaged components from the storm. They anticipate some excavating but are hoping to keep noise down to a minimum.

In addition, we are told that buses will replace train service and customers should expect approximately 30 minutes of added travel time. You can find more details about the service changes by visiting the Long Island Railroad website under the Planned Work tab.

Thank you,
Mayor Michael McGinty
