Important Weather Alert From Mayor McGinty

Another storm system is expected to bring coastal flooding, and the potential of strong gusty winds for Friday night into Saturday.

A coastal flood warning will be in effect during this period with the potential for 2 to 3 ft of inundation above ground level in vulnerable areas throughout Island Park and the surrounding communities.

Very strong winds will also be a part of this system—the worst winds will occur overnight from Friday into Saturday morning.

Please take all precautions to tie down or remove objects which have the potential to fly away in your yards, in addition please ready flashlights if power is lost. I urge you please do not drive on any flooded streets, this puts you and others at serious risk.

I have been in contact with the Chiefs of the Island Park Fire Department who are aware of this upcoming weather event and will be on standby during it. In the event of an emergency please call the IPFD at (516) 431-1213 or 911.

In the event of a power outage or downed power lines please call PSEG 1-800-490-0075. I also have been in contact with both PSEG and the Long Island Rail Road who will keep us posted on any important alerts and service outages.

For residents who wish to move their cars—Village lots will be available for your convenience—please note that some Village lots are prone to flooding and should be taken under consideration when moving cars.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Village Hall at 516-431-0600.

Thank you and Stay Safe!
