Information on Congestion Pricing

We have received the following information from the M.T.A., a New York State agency, regarding the upcoming implementation of what is commonly referred to as “congestion pricing.” Starting January 5, 2025, vehicles entering Manhattan streets and avenues at or below 60th Street—the designated Congestion Relief Zone—will be subject to a toll.

The toll amount will vary based on factors such as the type of vehicle, the time of day, crossing credits, and payment method. Vehicles using E-ZPass will pay $9 during peak hours or $2.25 overnight, charged once daily. The M.T.A. has also announced programs like the Low-Income Discount Plan and the Individual Disability Exemption Plan to assist eligible individuals, regardless of where they live. For more information about these programs and to apply, mta.info/discounts.

Drivers who use E-ZPass should ensure their accounts are updated with current license plate numbers to receive the correct toll rates and any applicable crossing credits. If you do not have E-ZPass, you will still be able to pay using other methods, but E-ZPass remains the most cost-effective option.

The M.T.A. has asked us to refer our residents to congestionreliefzone.mta.info or sign up for updates at mta.info/crznewsletter for more information.
